Steps to Take When Feeling Burned Out

Life can be overwhelming and there will be times when you are too busy and overworked. When this happens, you can get caught up in the everyday life and you will see that you will become tired and exhausted.

It is easy to feel tired and burned out when you are working all the time and you aren’t taking time to care for yourself. Here are some ways to make your life better:

Look at Your Calendar

You need to look at your calendar and see if you are too busy. When you are overworking yourself, you might need to schedule yourself a place to have self-care and free time.

Look at your schedule and your calendar and see if you need to get rid of some of the things that you have to do. Do this without blame or judgement on yourself. You don’t have to be at every meeting and do everything that is on your list.

Let go of things that cause you to think that you need to always be doing more than someone else. Give yourself a time to work on your own needs. Do what is best for you. Stop comparing what other people are doing and thinking you have to keep up with them.

Say No

Once you look at your calendar and re-evaluate your schedule, learn to say no. You can say no when people ask you to do things. If the thing they want you to do doesn’t help you or make your life better, saying no is okay.

Don’t feel guilty if you tell someone no and set boundaries. You have to be mindful of what you are doing, and you have to know what your intentions are. Setting boundaries can help you to have free time and will help you to be able to get your own stuff done.

If people become upset when you say no or set boundaries, then this is a problem that they have and not you.

Have Self-Care Time

No matter how busy you are, you need to take time for you. When you feel tired and overworked, this is a sign that you aren’t taking care of yourself. You have to take your schedule and put time in for yourself to rest and relax.

Learning to have self-care and self-love is one of the most important things that you can do for yourself. This will give your energy back and make it where you can live your best life.

You have to take care of your mind, body and soul. Doing this each day, week and month is important. You have to schedule yourself things like a hair appointment, a massage, your exercise routine.

Taking care of yourself will give you good mental and spiritual health on top of your physical health. You need to love and be compassionate with yourself and make sure that you are scheduling times where you do nothing.

Do nothing like you would your meeting or your appointment and really do nothing. Take time off so that you can be committed to yourself. Look at your schedule and write in times that you need time just for you.

Sensory Overload

We get sensory overload because so much is going on around us. When you feel burned out, chances are that you are stressed in your life, your mind, your health, your social media and more. Take time off of your electronics and let your mind and body rest. Be calm and relax.

When you want to be well, you have to learn to get rid of stress. You can take a salt bath and get rid of your phone for a while. This allows you to let your worries and stress sink to the bottom of your bath and allow your senses to relax.

Dim the lights, take a break, set a goal to feel your senses. Allow yourself to close your eyes and to feel better. Here are some things you can do:

  • Sit quietly.
  • Ground yourself.
  • Put your feet into the floor.
  • Deep breathe.
  • Put your hand on your belly and see how deep you can breathe.
  • Tune into your energy.
  • Ask your energy to come to you.
  • Pay attention to your five sense.
  • Cover your ears to get rid of the sounds.
  • Do this until you feel better.

You can do this as many times as you need to in your day so that you can feel better and healthier in your life.

Conclusion

If you are tired and overworked, you need to take time for you. Let your energy get back and allow yourself to have a mental and physical rest. If you need to see a professional, do it.
